Abstract Submission Guidelines

welcomes submission of abstracts to encourage work of new ideas, concepts and research in the field of Clinical Microbiology.

Abstract Submission

  • Abstract submission deadline: Last date for Abstract Submission is 15th August 2024. No abstracts will be accepted after this date.

  • It is MANDATORY for presenting author to be registered for Conference.

  • Abstract Submission option will be made available in your registration account, only once the Conference Registration is confirmed.

  • The abstracts must not have been published at any conference proceedings /journal before.

  • The presenting author should preferably be the first author.

  • All abstract submissions to be mailed on brmicrocon@nsmch.in

  • You need to mention your preference of Oral /Poster presentation and you will receive an E-mail confirmation after submission.

  • Abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific committee & the committee holds the right to accept/reject or to consider an abstract either for Oral or Poster presentation. The decision of the scientific committee shall be final.

  • The mode of presentation whether Oral or Poster will be notified by 1st sept 2024 .

  • Certificates will be given to Presenting Author only. No substitute for the same will be entertained.

  • The Organizers Awards will be given to presenting author in various categories & subcategories.

Guide to Abstract Submission

  • Your abstract should be in word document (.doc, .docx file) not exceeding more than 5 mb file size, it should be well structured
    (No graphics, images or tables to be used). See Abstract template provided for details.

  • You need to submit the name, institutional affiliation and contact information of the presenting as well as the co-authors.

  • Maximum number of authors allowed is 6.

  • Please ensure the E-mail address and mobile number of the presenting author is accurate, as this will be the sole method of communication regarding acceptance.

  • There is a word limit of 300 words for each abstract body (Excluding title).

  • Title (must be written in CAPITAL and BOLD LETTERS). Use Font –Times New Roman, Font Size – 14.

  • Abstract body: Use Font – Times New Roman , Font Size – 12.

  • Abstract should be in this heading: Introduction, Material & Methods, Results, Conclusion.

  • Introduction: Indicate the purpose and objective of the research, the hypothesis that was tested or/and a description of the problem being analysed or evaluated.

  • Material & Methods: Describe the study period, setting and location, study design, study population, data collection and methods of analysis used.

  • Results: Present as clearly and in as much detail as possible the findings and/or outcomes of the study. Please summarize any specific results.

  • Conclusion: Explain the significance of your findings and/or outcomes of the study for prevention, treatment, care and/or support, and future implications of the results.

  • Submitting authors are responsible for ensuring spelling, grammar, and terminology is accurate.

  • Abstracts cannot be edited after submission.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

  • Those who will be selected for oral presentation are required to send their final presentation by email to brmicrocon@nsmch.in latest by 10th September 2024 with the subject mentioned as “Oral Presentation and Registration No_ Name(of presenter)” in E-mail subject.

  • Presenters should also bring their oral presentations in a pen drive.

  • Each presenter must check his/her presentation before the session.

  • A time slot of 7 minutes (5 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for discussion) will be given to each presenter.

  • Session judges will strictly enforce the time rule.

  • Format for the presentation: Title slide with authors and institute name, Introduction, Material & methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS

  1. Poster displays will be limited to one side. The recommended poster size is 3 feet (width) by 4 feet (length). i.e) Width (90 cm) x Length (120cm)

  2. The poster board number assigned to the poster must be placed in the upper left-hand corner of the display. A poster board number cut-out will be provided and must always be visible.

  3. Be sure to include the abstract title, author and coauthor names, and the institution(s) where research is underway.

  4. Place your e-mail address, phone numbers in the upper right-hand corner of the poster board.

  5. “Introduction/Background,” Methods,” “Results,” and “Conclusions”.

  6. It is recommended that you hand-carry your poster to the conference, using tubular packaging or a portfolio case. Costs associated with creating and shipping the poster display will be the responsibility of the authors. Velcro (easiest to use), pushpins, or thumbtacks will be provided to mount your poster.

  7. Refer to your acceptance letter and/or the final conference program for the time and location of your poster session and set-up time.

  8. The designated poster presenter (author or coauthor) must be present at the assigned space during the designated time to discuss the work presented.

Tips for Poster Preparation
Posters should stimulate discussion, not give a long presentation. Therefore, keep text to a minimum, emphasize graphics, and make sure every

item included in your poster is necessary.

  • Utilize handouts to supplement your poster.
  • Goal: 20% text, 40% graphics, 40% space.
  • Make sure ideas flow logically from one section to the next.
  • Use charts and graphs to illustrate data (avoid large tables of raw data).
  • Use high resolution photographs (web images often will not work).
  • Do not use all capital letters.
The use of typewritten, handwritten or a printed PowerPoint presentation as a poster is unacceptable. Presentations in these formats will be removed.
Be consistent.
  • Keep consistent margins.
  • Keep line spacing consistent.
  • Keep the color, style, and thickness of borders the same.
  • Keep shading consistent.
Pick no more than 2-3 fonts
Pick no more than 2-3 colors
Test readability:
  • Title banner should be legible from 20 feet away
  • Body text should legible from 6 feet away
